IMPORTANT: Your completed & signed physical must be submitted to the athletic office by February 20th to participate in tryouts. You also need to submit the $75.00 registration fee. (If you sent in your forms in the fall, the one page re-certification form will just need to be completed and turned in)
DO NOT WAIT until March 5th, it will be too late!
What to bring:
A stick, goggles & mouthguard. You will not be permitted to play without these.
Water bottle with your name on it.
Running sneakers for the track. Turfs for the turf field (optional).
Weather appropriate clothing
A recent picture of yourself with your name and grade on it.
Make sure to eat something healthy at least an hour before tryouts
What to expect:
2 miles ( Recommended < 16 min/ mile)
Timed mile (Recommended < 7:30 minute)
Additional running tests
Skills testing for stick work
Stick skills under pressure
Evaluation of your performance in 3v2, 3v3, 4v3, 4v4, and 7v7 situations
Transition drills for field awareness
Full-field scrimmage situations
What the coaches are looking for:
Stickwork: Catching/ throwing with both dominant and non-dominant hands, especially in game situations
Game Situational Play: Field sense, attacking ability, defensive positioning
Coachability: Willingness to be coached, to receive constructive criticism & try new things
Athleticism: Overall fitness level including speed, endurance & agility
Hard work: Ability to work hard & potential to improve
Good attitude: Excited to learn and play the sport of lacrosse
Teamwork: working hard for the good of the team and overall team goal
